Two Robbers Killed in Attempted Cell Phone Theft in São Paulo

In the early hours of Monday, 27th 2023, two robbers lost their lives during an attempted cell phone robbery in Embu das Artes, Greater São Paulo. The incident occurred when a municipal guard intervened and thwarted the robbery. Security cameras in the area captured the entire event.

In the footage, the victim is seen walking along the sidewalk, and just as they prepare to cross the street, they are ambushed by two criminals on a motorcycle. One of the assailants, wearing a helmet, dismounts the bike and approaches the victim, attempting to steal the phone. The victim hesitates but resists handing over the device.

Sensing the criminals might flee, the victim pushes the robbers, causing both to fall to the ground. At this moment, a municipal guard appears with a firearm drawn and fires at the suspects. Both individuals were struck and succumbed to their injuries a short distance from the scene.

The São Paulo Public Security Department (SSP) stated that the municipal guard had given clear orders for the suspects to surrender, which were ignored. The City of Embu das Artes confirmed that it has increased patrol efforts by the municipal guard in response to the rising crime in the area.
