Tragedy in Bambamarca: Police Officer Goes on the Run After Allegedly Killing Municipal Worker
The tragic incident involving Peruvian police officer Lieutenant Anderson Quispe Briones has shocked the community of Bambamarca, Cajamarca. The incident occurred on October 7, 2024, when Briones allegedly shot Ruddy Lozano Obispo, an environmental engineer and municipal worker, in cold blood at a local bar. The two were reportedly drinking together when Briones, without any clear provocation, took out his firearm and shot Lozano in the chest.

CCTV footage from the bar captured the aftermath, where Briones can be seen confronting the barโs employee, preventing her from calling for help. This was followed by an attempt to manipulate the camera, obscuring the full details of the event. The loud gunshot alarmed nearby residents, one of whom recorded footage of Lozanoโs body being carried to a truck by three individuals. The victim was later found outside a hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
Briones, who was off-duty and in civilian clothing at the time, is currently on the run. His actions have sparked outrage, particularly from Lozanoโs grieving family. They have demanded justice, urging authorities to intensify the search for the fugitive officer. Police forces in Cajamarca are working to locate Briones, but his whereabouts remain unknown.
The victim, Lozano, was a respected figure in his community, serving as the sub-manager of waste management for the Municipality of Hualgayoc. His tragic death has left the town in mourning, and his family has planned for his body to be transferred to Lima for burial. This senseless act has left many questioning the motives behind the murder, as investigators continue to probe into what could have led to such a violent act by a law enforcement officer
